Mental Health First Aid Training

MHFA is a 1-day basic training that can help law enforcement better serve those in their community who may be experiencing a mental health challenge. MHFA is designed to help participants identify signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge, so that they can connect those in crisis to appropriate treatment and community resources. This course qualifies for 8 hours of behavioral health training credits for MA E911.

Crisis Intervention TEAM Training

CIT training is a rigorous 40-hour program spread over 5 days tailored for law enforcement professionals. It includes comprehensive training of mental illnesses, special populations, communication tactics, suicide/safety risk assessments, local community resources, officer wellness/peer support and practical application of de-escalation tactics. Guest presenters include experts from local law enforcement, Dept. of Mental Health (DMH), Boston Medical Center (BMC), Vinfen, Father Bill’s & MainSpring, Boulder Crest, Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI) teams, The Boston Higashi School and more.

• September 21, 22, 23, 28 & 29th 2026 @ Braintree Police Department (8am - 4pm each day)

• October 19, 20, 21, 26 & 27th 2026 @ Brockton Police Department (8am - 4pm each day)

• December 7, 8, 9, 14 & 15th 2026 @ Braintree Police Department (8am - 4pm each day)

Crisis Intervention Team Dispatch Training

911 Operators play a crucial role in informing public safety response to individuals impacted by behavioral health. This 1-day program is designed to provide dispatch with an overview of the goals of CIT and the critical role dispatchers play in supporting residents and public safety. This course qualifies for 8 hours of behavioral health training credits for MA E911.

• December 2nd, 2026 @ Braintree Police Department (8am - 4pm)

Crisis Intervention Team Youth Training

An expansion of the CIT model specifically designed to help law enforcement officers connect young people who need help to effective services in their community by training officers about brain development and how mental health symptoms present in youth. SROs and law enforcement officers who may deal with Youths in crisis.  Law enforcement officers attending this training should have completed the 5-day CIT training.  SROs can enroll without prior attendance in the 5-day CIT training.

Advanced CIT: ICAT De-escalation Training

De-escalation training is a free 2-day program for law enforcement, dispatchers and co-responding clinicians. This training provides participants with the skills and techniques needed to safely and effectively manage crisis situations with or without a weapon. This training qualifies for 16 hours of behavioral health training requirements for MA E911.

• March 30 & 31, 2026 @ Braintree Police Department (8am - 4pm)

Crisis intervention team recertification

After 3 years of an officer receiving their certification in Crisis Intervention Teams, law enforcement are encouraged to take the CIT Recertification training. In this 8 hour training, officers review training content from the 5 day course, emphasizing any/all updates related to mental health, substance use, POST-mandated de-escalation techniques and our local resources. The training concludes with de-escalation scenarios and the standardized Department of Mental Health (DMH) examination.

Advanced CIT: Stalking by sparc

Stalking impacts 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men in the United States. Yet, there is no stalking hotline to call, or crisis center, and it’s even difficult for victims to recognize what they’re experiencing or where to go for help. SPARC, The Stalking Prevention Awareness and Resource Center, is an organization funded federally to provide education and resources about the crime of stalking. This training covers how to identify and respond to stalking incidents, the intersectionality of stalking and domestic violence, the utilization of technology and applications for stalking, safety planning with stalking victims and investigating and prosecuting stalking.

Psychological First Aid TRAINING‍

Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an 8-hour evidenced informed, modular approach to assisting individuals after a potentially traumatic event such as natural disasters, terrorism, a public health emergency or a personal crisis. Led by Sarah Gaer, MA you will learn a set of 8 core action steps that operate on the assumption of human resilience and a recognition that strong reactions to potentially traumatic events are common and normal. This training qualifies for 8 hours of behavioral health training requirements for MA E911

beyond the badge‍

Beyond the Badge: Moral Injury, QPR, Safety Planning is an 8 hour training for Law Enforcement, Dispatchers and Co-Response Clinicians. In this interactive training, led by Eagle Eye’s Kevin Lambert, participants learn the impacts of trauma and moral injury, recognize suicide warning signs, connect peers to life-saving resources, explore healing pathways and use the SHIELD safety planning tool. This training qualifies for 7.5 hours of MA E911’s Behavioral health training credits.
